Nursing students get 'hands on' in Thailand

A contingent of CQUniversity nursing staff and students is already getting 'hands on', only a short while into month-long work and cultural visit to Thailand's Surin province, north-east of Bangkok.
Lecturers Teresa Sander and Dr Kerry Reid-Searl have reported that the students have 'done their University proud'.
"Many of them have found the village experiences somewhat overwhelming - poverty and lack of resources - and yet they are grateful for everything," the lecturers reported.
"We have had the first years in the villages this week. They have done betadine gauze dressings on everything, sutures, obs, preg test, etc in amongst the chooks, dirt floors, concrete etc.
"They have put condoms on penises (fake) in front of 200 Thai kids and they painted some play equipment that our money had brought for a nursery in a poor area. It's all just fantastic."
