Tourism leaders on campus to inspire central west schoolkids

Tourism industry leaders visited CQU Rockhampton recently (Friday, July 27) to help inspire 107 school children from the Fitzroy Central West Region who were touring the campus.
Tourism lecturer Jillian Litster arranged the visit by Tourism Queensland board member Grant Cassidy, Capricorn Caves operator Ann Augusteyn, Rockhampton Tourist and Business Information GM Tony Cullen, Rydges Capricorn Resort marketing manager Krista White and Capricorn Tourism projects officer Brad Johnston.
The visitors from Years 7-10 also attended sessions on geography, history, Japanese, drama and dance, literary studies, multimedia, health and PE, science education, maths education and teaching.
The school children came from Biloela, Thangool, Jambin, Moura, Tannum Sands, Gladstone, Emerald and Blackwater to attend the event arranged by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Education.

Jordan Hoyland, who came as a chaperone, is a year 11 student from Biloela State High School who is also a current CQU student who has completed Introduction to Learning Management and is currently enrolled in Futures under the SUN (Start Uni Now) program
