Mackay teams blitz junior robotics

Primary and secondary students from Mackay competed and beat Rockhampton teams at the Central Queensland Junior Robotics Competition at CQU Rockhampton on the weekend.
More than 15 teams competed in four different categories: Soccer, Dance (Open), Dance (Primary) and Rescue. Mackay teams gained firsts in each category while Rockhampton teams gained two second places and a third place.
The event was officially opened by Informatics & Communication Dean Associate Professor Kevin Tickle, Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard , Education Queensland Rockhampton District Executive Director Ms Lynne Foley and IT Professor Fergus O’Brien.
CQU organisers Jason Bell, Andrew Chiou, Russel Stonier, Amanda Murphy and Jeni Richardson and all the volunteers that gave up their time deserve to be congratulated on holding such a successful community event.
Sponsors included Educational Experience, Travel Crew, CQU Bookshop, Verbatim, Hot FM and Channel Ten.
