Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Transient Theatre co-founder works with drama students 

Visiting industry mentor Tony Kishawi has been working at CQU Rockhampton with 3rd-year Bachelor of Performing Arts students in their final drama course, Experimental Theatre, this week and last week.

PhotoID:3272 Mr Kishawi is co-founder of Transient Theatre, a company which creates and tours movement-based performance.

He has many years of experience in community theatre, object theatre and mask and mime, via performance, teaching and directing throughout Australia. He has also worked solo in Europe and Japan.

In recent years, Mr Kishawi has become well known as a practitioner of the Italian mask form, commedia dell 'arte.

He recently worked with students at CQU involved in street theatre performances at Beef Australia 2006 (pictured).
