Rocky youth 'mouthing off'

Central Queensland bands will “mouth off” at the CQ Multicultural Fair and CQU Open Day this Sunday at the CQU Rockhampton.

Mouthing Off, a sub-committee of the Rockhampton Arts Council, will produce a full-day of performances by bands such as Stray Dogs, Alfonoki, The Cupboards (from Yeppoon), Average Like Barry, Placid, Six Ways from Sunday (Biloela), Sphere and Militia (Gladstone).

There will also be supporting acts by The Marimba Band, Capricorn Youth Accommodation Service, Sign-language choir and the Youth Theatre Training Ground.

You will find Mouthing Off at the CQU’s amphitheatre near the Student Association building from 10am to 4pm.

Mouthing Off is a team of Rockhampton young people aged 17 to 24 years eager to showcase local young talent to a region of youth who are hungry for entertainment.

“We are committed to promoting the region's youth talent in music, arts, performance and multimedia,” Mouthing Off member Dominic Carroll said.

“Mouthing Off is a voluntary and non-profit organisation who works as a sub-committee of the Rockhampton Arts Council.

“This makes Rockhampton Arts Council the only one in Queensland to incorporate a youth component.

The Multicultural Fair is the group’s first major gig, but it won’t be the last. The group hopes to coordinate a number of exciting youth events each year with support from the Arts Council.
