Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

'The Wiz' winds its way to Mackay 

Award-winning musical The Wiz is winding its way to the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music Theatre at CQU Mackay this April.

Conservatorium students will present the show on Thursday, April 10 (10am and 2pm); Friday April 11 (10am and 7.30pm) and Saturday April 12 (2pm and 7.30pm).

Featuring rhythmic soul music by Charles M. Smalls, including Ease on Down the RoadThe Wiz is based on 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' by L. Frank Baum, and has become one of Broadway's most popular contemporary musicals.

It opened on Broadway in 1975 and ran through to 1979, winning 7 Tony Awards including Best musical and Best Score. The movie of The Wiz starred Diana Ross and featured Michael Jackson. The movie was also nominated for 4 Academy Awards.
