CQU Mackay saves lives

CQU Mackay saves lives ... at least according to the Red Cross Blood Service they do!.
CQU lecturers and students donated blood last week through the Mackay Blood Service, as part of their Senior Schools/Higher Education Community Program.
Enthusiastic staff and students have done their bit to save the lives of those needing blood transfusions by taking time out from their schedules to give blood, and they haven’t walked away empty handed for their efforts.
Each donor received a Subway voucher and Coffee Club voucher and a few energy giving snacks to revitalise themselves after their donation.
According to the Red Cross Blood Service, “becoming a blood donor is helping our community in a really big way - one donation alone saves three lives, and gives other people a better quality of life".
Many staff at CQU Mackay regularly donate blood to the Red Cross Blood Service, but it is hoped that blood drives like this will help encourage more people to become regular donors.
The Red Cross courtesy bus has been made available to transport interested Mackay staff and students and the program will continue into this week.
Please contact Frances Christensen or Michelle Whiley if you would like to participate.
