Military personnel visiting Rockhampton region for Talisman Sabre exercises have a chance to do their banking, check emails and keep up to date with news from home thanks to 20 surplus computers loaned by CQUniversity...
University staff members helped set up the computers at the Western Street support base for use by personnel visiting from around Australia and the United States.
US Military's Major Stefan Bandas (front) expects CQUniversity's computers to be a valued resource during the military exercise in Central Queensland.US Military Major Stefan Bandas said the computers were a great resource for both the US and Australian forces during their stay in the region.
"It allows us to keep in contact with our families back home, which is something we don't always have the opportunity to do when we are abroad," said Major Bandas, who has been deployed across the US and twice to Iraq.
The computers form part of the 'morale cafe' at the military base which also includes coffee making facilities and a projector to screen movies during downtime.
