Mackay students share Library Society scholarship

CQUniversity's Mackay Library Society Friends including Film & Arts, Mackay Inc recently reached their first milestone in providing scholarships for high-achieving students.

An initial $1000 award has been presented and shared by students Maria Morokutti and Andrew McClurg, based on their results in the STEPS preparatory program.

This was the first of five awards of $1000 each.  The remaining four annual awards will be presented to the student with the highest GPA in one of the new Medical Imaging or Sonography degrees.

This is a new initiative for the Mackay Library Society, which has raised funds over the past 15 years to assist students, through the Library, with the purchase of books, music, and equipment.

Library Friends also acquire books, manuscripts and photographs for the historical collection, and are currently transcribing diaries written in Changi POW camp, which belong to a local identity.

The monthly film showing, which adds to the cultural life of the city, is also a regular fundraiser.
