CQU Rockhampton will co-host a one-day symposium on sustainable regional development on December 2, 2004.
The symposium flows out of the Engaged Government project - a study of government-community engagement for regional outcomes.
The event will provide a forum for representatives from the community, business and government and research sectors to discuss collaborative processes for achieving quality of life, economic prosperity and environmental outcomes.
Keynote speakers include regional economic development specialist Dr Andrew Beer (Flinders Uni) and LGAQ Finance, Governance and Community manager Natalie Kent.
There will be presentations by regional government, business and community representatives and researchers in regional governance.
The symposium will be presented by CQU's Institute for Sustainable Regional Development (ISRD) and 'study partners' including the Queensland departments of Natural Resources and Mines; Main Roads and Transport, along with the Local Government Association of Queensland, CQU, Griffith University, University of Queensland and the Australian Research Council.
