Scholarships offered at Emerald

Central Queensland University Emerald, which gears up for orientation on 26 and 27 February, has announced a new round of scholarships for 2003.

Two awards, collectively sponsored by the Emerald Shire council, Ashby McDonnell, Maundrell and CQU, are available to full-time students studying business at the campus, according to Associate Professor John Rolfe.

“The scholarship winners will receive $1500 towards their HECS fees from CQU and guaranteed vacation employment at Ashby McDonnell, Maundrell or Emerald Shire Council throughout the year,” Professor Rolfe said.

“Local industry in Emerald sometimes finds it difficult to employ qualified staff and this initiative will help to encourage local students to progress through a university degree while making them aware of career opportunities in the Central Highlands.” The University’s orientation program will serve to introduce a new business degree and expose STEPS students to the first class facilities and friendly environment at CQU Emerald.

For the convenience of continuing students studying at CQU Emerald in 2003, the Autumn term timetable follows: Monday 10am to 2pm, Room A2.05, COIS 11011; Tuesday 10am to 1pm, Room A2.05, ECON 11026; 6pm to 9pm, Room A2.05, ACCT 11059; and Thursday 6pm to 9pm, Room A2.05, MRKT 11029.
