Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU awardee Leah Purcell develops career 

Entertainer and former Wide Bay-Burnett resident Leah Purcell, who received an Honorary Masters degree at the 2002 CQU Bundaberg graduation ceremony, has been appointed as a 2004 Eisenhower Fellow.

The actor, writer, singer and director will travel throughout the United States on the Fellowship, meeting with leaders in her field of performing arts and education.

Purcell, who has achieved notice via the play 'Black Chicks Talking' and the film 'Lantana', is currently appearing in the innovative Australian drama production 'Beasty Girl .. the secret'.

'Beasty Girl' is the story of Errol Flynn told through the eyes of an illegitimate daughter born in Jamaica.
