Bishop launches CQU Press title in Toowoomba

Bishop Rob Nolan last Friday launched Mary Robert’s book, 'Victoria Downs', which is a celebration of 100 years of family ownership of this outstanding merino sheep stud near Morven.

PhotoID:3038 Mary Roberts is an ordained minister in the Church of England and coincidentally is a member of Bishop Rob Nolan’s flock, because his region extends from Ipswich to Birdsville.

Rob joked that Morven is very central, because it is exactly half way between Toowoomba and Birdsville and is therefore central to both.

Publisher and CQU Press Director Professor David Myers told the gathering of 55 former farmers and pastoralists in Toowoomba that authors like Mary Roberts were preserving our proud rural heritage and saving us from being inundated by imported titles from the northern hemisphere.
