Big day out for Business & Law

A host of fun and informative activities have been planned for CQU Faculty of Business & Law's Big Day Out on Wednesday 26 February.

The day has been organised as part of the CQU O-Week activities at the Rockhampton campus.

All first year students who are studying on-campus or externally with the Faculty are invited to come along and join in the fun-filled activities of the day.

PhotoID:456 "This is a great opportunity for the students to mix with staff and receive some important information within an informal setting and have some light-hearted fun," said Robyn Alcock, Associate Dean of Teaching & Learning.

"Students and their families will have the chance to discuss key issues." The day begins with an 8am breakfast on the lawns outside Building 5, Room G.02 sponsored by the CQU Golden Key National Honour Society. Faculty student groups such as the Accounting Forum will have stalls set up so that students can gain further insight into what, why and how they are formed.

Students can participate in the all day game of 'FOBLopoly'. Find out how you can be in the running to win one of the many prizes on offer at the 8am session. Amongst the many prizes is a university tested computer.

Past students will be also be present to talk to students after the breakfast session about life at university.

The next session is a chance for students to meet the staff. Students can participate in a trivia game in which the aim is to match up a list of trivia with the staff member.

From 11am to 1pm, 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!' sessions are set to inform students on the key issues affecting university life. These issues will include assignment extensions, plagiarism, deferred exams, drop/add dates and much more.

Students can meet on the lawn outside Building 5, Room G.02 for directions which have been made easy by marked footprints on the path to each session. Each student will be given a passport which will need to be stamped for each session they attend in order to receive 'money' to play FOBLopoly.

Lunch will be provided for all at 1pm for all on the lawns in front of the Faculty of Business & Law, Building 34.

Library sessions, computer workshops, Business Olympics and Mind Games have been organised for the afternoon sessions. Our Technology Services staff will be interactive on the day with a resident DJ to set the mood.

Parents, partners and families are invited to attend the final session for drinks and nibbles and to draw the competition winners of the day.
