Soggy fields but spirits high as Indigenous Reconciliation Carnival gets underway

Dozens of teams have arrived for the Indigenous Reconciliation Carnival being held on the CQUniversity Rockhampton sports fields from January 27-29.

Carnival organisers are expecting thousands of spectators and players to participate throughout this 'drug and alcohol free' event. Former NRL stars Rhys Wesser and David Peachey are attending as special guests.
The CQID website says the event features 'spectacular rugby, cultural dancing, traditional food and the opportunity to be celebrate reconciliation and help spread the message of petrol sniffing prevention'.
The carnival now has a Facebook page 'CQID Reconciliation Carnival'. Regular updates will give live scores and photos.
