"As the Bachelor of Oral Health program now has second-year students, new oral health facilities are now available in Rockhampton," Assoc Prof Short said.

"Students are busy learning how to make whitening trays and mouthguards, and they are also making orthodontic study models.

"A lot of people worked together to re-design the learning space, order all the new dental equipment, have it installed and learn how to use the equipment efficiently and safely."

Assoc Prof Short stressed that dental technician Allison Gerke has helped considerably.

"The students are very lucky to be able to learn from such an experienced health professional," she said.
