CQU Press wins four vice-regal book launches in Darwin

The Administrator of the Northern Territory, the Honourable Ted Egan AO, will launch four new CQU Press titles in February in Government House, Darwin.
He will launch Professor Don Fuller’s book entitled Indigenous Community Development in Northern Australia on February 23. He has also written the foreword for this book.
The Administrator Ted Egan has had a strong interest in Aboriginal affairs since he was a NT Patrol Officer in the 1950s and 1960s. He wrote the famous ballad Gurindji Blues in honour of Vincent Lingiari, the Gurindji leader who led his people off on an historic strike in 1966 at Wave Hill Station.
The Administrator will also launch three outback books by CQU Press on February 24 also in Government House:.
Colonel Lionel Rose: Chief Veterinary Officer of the NT 1946-1958 by Trish Lonsdale;.
Kajirri, Bush Missus. The story of a woman in man’s territory on VRD by Lexie Simmons and Darrell Lewis; and.
The Last Dry Creek, an outback novel set in Arnhem Land by veteran bush author Marie Mahood who lived on Mongrel Downs in the Tanami Desert.
The launches will also be a reunion of the old bushies as Mr Egan has known the Northern Territory authors since his outback days in the 1950s and 1960s.
The Government House book launches are confirmation of the strong reputation that CQU Press has built up in Queensland and the Northern Territory for its Outback Books.
The Director of CQU Press Professor David Myers has confirmed that he is currently in discussion with the Queensland Premier’s Department with a view to planning appropriate publications for the 150th Birthday of Queensland in 2009.
