Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Computing staff chip in at Bundy retreat 

Staff from CQUniversity's Computing Sciences School from throughout Central Queensland converged on Bundaberg last week for their planning retreat.

For the past 2 years, CQUniversity staff from each school have come together to meet and discuss the year that was and plan for the future of their school.

The 3-day event brought together 24 staff from Rockhampton, Mackay and Bundaberg, allowing the locals to showcase their beautiful city with its fabulous hotels, restaurants and tourist spots.

The staff visited the Botanical Gardens and the Hinkler Hall of Aviation and there were good photo opportunities at the Hummock and Bargara.

The retreat enabled staff to discuss student enrolments, program restructures, teaching topics, community engagement and marketing, and various research topics.
