Despite missing out on the coveted Contemporary Singer of the Year title, the singer outperformed many keen contestants at the event to become a competitive finalist and worthy recipient of the jazz/blues award.

Timothy said he was never sure how his music would be received.

"Going through each round, I was never sure if I would make it further as there was a wide variety of genres represented making it difficult to compare performers. It was also difficult to know what the adjudicators were looking for."

Timothy comes from a musical family, having grown up singing with church groups and now with the Wesley Institute Choir.

"My wife and I have just moved to the Southern Highlands of NSW, where we work at a Christian campsite. I enjoy singing for groups that come through."

The singer attributes much of his voice development and performance techniques to years of singing lessons and his studies with Kristen Beradi at CQUniversity.

"Having performance exams at CQUniversity has also helped me to become accustomed to being marked on my performing, and to be aware of what I am doing on stage."

Timothy writes much of his own material, teaches singing and guitar in Western Sydney and hopes to record an album of original songs soon.

Timothy now joins the likes of Dame Joan Sutherland, Human Nature, Julian Morrow of the Chaser's War and a number of other greats who have graced the stages of McDonald's Performing Arts Challenge over the last 7 and half decades.

The McDonald's Performing Arts Challenge is the largest festival of its kind in the world attracting about 26,000 entrants who perform to audiences of more than 100,000 in categories for classical and contemporary singers, dancers, film makers, poets, actors, rock bands, writers, instrumentalists and composers.
