Young Voices visit Conservatorium

Young Voices of Melbourne was founded in 1990 by its Director Mark O'Leary, and over the past 11 years has produced five CD recordings and toured seven states and territories of Australia as well as Europe, South Africa and North America.
In Mackay, the choir will perform from 8pm on Wednesday, September 25, at the Conservatorium Theatre. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for concession. Bookings are via 07 4940 7800.
The choir has a strong commitment to contemporary Australian music, and a firm belief in the importance of developing a high level of aural and music reading skills in its members through quality Kodaly-based music education.
Choir members aged from 6 to 18 years rehearse in one of four rehearsal groups which they attend once or twice each week. Mark O\'Leary is well known throughout Australia for his work with young choirs. His arrangements for young choirs are widely performed and recorded throughout Australia, and are published in the Young Voices of Melbourne Choral Series. Mark is also the Principal Guest Conductor of Gondwana Voices, Australia\'s national children\'s choir.
