Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Steve made member of marketing committee for Bundaberg Region 

After six months since residing in Bundaberg, Senior Lecturer at the School of Marketing & Tourism at CQU Bundaberg, Steve Pike, has been appointed as a member of the marketing committee of Bundaberg Region Limited.

PhotoID:427 "Bundaberg Region Limited is one of 14 Regional Tourism Organisations (RTO) within Queensland and the main objective of this organisation is to develop and promote tourism within the Bundaberg & Coral Coast areas," Steve said.

Prior to joining academia, Steve spent 17 years in the tourism industry in New Zealand and Australia. Seven of these years he was General Manager of a leading New Zealand regional tourism organisation and nine years with the New Zealand Tourism Department.

As well as Australia and New Zealand, he has been involved in tourism promotions in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, USA, Germany and the UK. Steve has an MBA and a PhD through the University of Waikato, on tourism destination positioning.
