CQUniversity Rockhampton Campus staff member Ross Munro has recently returned from Papua New Guinea, where he has been helping an Anglican Church project group install solar lighting in a remote village...
Ross and his half dozen team members contributed to the purchase, delivery and installation of 3 solar light systems in a school, a health centre and a priest's house. They also helped to train the locals in the care and maintenance of the equipment.

Their work concentrated on the Eiwo Parish in PNG's Oro Province, with location of the equipment decided in consultation with Diocesan Health and Education coordinators.
Ross, who works in the Student Support Centre, enjoyed the experience and is looking forward to future visits to check how this service has made the lives of villagers better.
"The Solar Lighting project will be ongoing over the next 5 years," he said.
"In addition there were some other secondary projects that have emerged as a result of our contacts within the Anglican Diocese in Oro Province PNG. One of these is the acquiring of text books and story books for primary school aged children to assist in English reading and comprehension."
