The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education has presented $500 to Yeppoon High School to support students on an excursion to Japan in September.
Faculty spokesperson Jim Jensen said the excursion would encourage students to study the Japanese language and perhaps influence a decision to enrol in the Bachelor of Learning Management (Japanese).
Eighteen students will travel to Japan.
Yeppoon High has been a long-time supporter of languages, especially Japanese, as part of its cultural awareness program.
The Yeppoon High School community accommodates many Japanese student-teachers on exchange and numerous Japanese high school students for shorter home-stays every year.
