CQU an export award finalist but Griffith gets the gong

CQU was a finalist at last night's (Thursday, Sep 23) 2004 Premier of Queensland's Export Awards held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

However, the Education Award went to Griffith University.

CQU received the Central Queensland Export Achievement Award 2004 (Education) during a ceremony on Friday September 17.

The Award, which CQU has won previously, officially recognises our contributions to the growth of the Queensland economy and creation of employment in the region.

"While the Export Awards are a key part of the Queensland Government's strategy to encourage exporters and showcase international competitiveness, we should see this recognition not only in terms of economical returns but in the many ways we – as group of learners and providers – are contributing to the social and intellectual fabric of Central Queensland," Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard said.

"Congratulations to all of us who support and develop products and deliver services to students and customers from over 120 countries.".
