Another sweet donation for Childhood Cancer Support

Childhood Cancer Support has gained support from CQU again, partly thanks to the sale of chocolates and the sweetness of staff members.

A range of fundraising efforts were recognised and celebrated during a morning tea at the Division of Teaching and Learning Services on Thursday, December 6.

Fundraiser coordinator Karen Reynolds explained that funds are raised with the sale of chocolates and drinks and through special barbecues throughout the year.

"Our support for the Childhood Cancer Support Inc. (formerly Children's Leukaemia) began in 2002. Funds raised including 2007 are approx. $7200," she said.

"There has been great support from others outside DTLS who have joined and left the Southern Annexe including Payroll, Student System Upgrade Project, AIS. These teams still support the cause by attending fundraising barbecues throughout the year.

"This year is the largest donation we have made - $2200. We normally raise $1000 a year.

"This year we have joined with Queensland Rail to donate a total of $3200 - $1500 from the Southern Annexe staff new and old, $1000 from QR and a special donation of $700 from staff of the Student System Upgrade Project."

Jenny Hilcher, the local representative of Childhood Cancer Support, and Bill Watson, the CEO of Childhood Cancer Support in Brisbane attended the morning tea.
