Music makers save the day

The Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music has presented a series of Mackay concerts for pre-school and early childhood students called 'The Music Makers Save the Day'.

PhotoID:2033 The youngsters experienced an introduction to different instrumental sounds. There was also an opportunity for students to have a hands-on experience with orchestral and rock music instruments, and an interaction with singers.

The musical production was composed and directed by Lecturer in Music, Kim Kirkman, who led his ensemble of Bachelor of Music students throughout the performance.

The concert was performed in the foyer of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Boundary Road, Mackay. More than 500 pre-schoolers and youngsters attended the series of six performances.

“This performance draws on the importance of introducing young children to the passion of music and musical instrumental sounds.

PhotoID:2034 “With a hands-on approach, it can also influence a child’s musical direction, “ Kim Kirkman said.
