Woollam Constructions has been appointed as the building contractors to refurbish the CQUniversity Rockhampton Library...
Director CQUniversity Library Graham Black said the appointment marked a significant milestone in the 6 million dollar refurbishment project, which will double the seating for library clients and provide an up-to-date learning environment for on-campus students.

The appointment was made after a tender process, which resulted in a high level of expressions of interest being submitted for the project.
"After a detailed evaluation process, managed in consultation with the project designers Wilson Architects, Woollam Constructions was selected as the preferred tenderer," Mr Black said.
Woollams has extensive local experience with delivering commercial buildings under tight timeframes and is currently working on a number of projects for Central Queensland schools, hospitals and TAFE in Rockhampton.
Funding for the Library refurbishment project was provided by the then Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations under its Education Investment Fund - Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Higher Education.
The new building is an essential part of the CQUniversity Campus Renewal Plan, which is set to update the University's facilities across all its campuses.
"CQUniversity is strongly committed to playing a leading role within all the communities which it serves," said the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Scott Bowman, "and our refurbishment of the Rockhampton Library is a clear demonstration of that commitment which will benefit the Central Queensland region generally."
Construction is now underway and is expected to be completed by late July 2011.
