"Mrs Margaret Olsen is a tireless worker for Bundaberg region nurses and she and her committee have maintained an active network through reunions and celebrations such as this," Dr Savage said.

"The opportunity for student nurses to meet with so many former nurses and discuss their education and goals with so many interested former nurses was valuable.

"Among the speakers were Mr Adrian Pennington, currently Chief Executive of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service, and Ms Gaye Zimmerman who spoke about the 50 years of the Blue Nursing Service."

Nursing students attending were: Paula Blake; Julie Spargo; Kristen Wick; Kimberley Navin; Nicole King and Patricia Fox.
