Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race ends at Gladstone campus 

The Easter weekend is a busy time in Gladstone with numerous events being held around the region, including the annual Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.

This year the official race presentations were held at the Gladstone campus in the Rex Metcalfe Lecture theatre.

PhotoID:2925 Commodore of the Port Curtis Sailing Club and Gladstone STEPS coordinator, Lynne Campbell said holding the presentation ceremony at the campus was an excellent way to show off the facilities to competitors from around Australia.

“There were 50 yachts involved in the race this year and the yachties were very impressed with the facilities at the campus,” said Ms Campbell.

Line honours went to 'Heaven Can Wait' from Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron while Gladstone yacht, 'Immigrant' placed third in its division of the race.
