CQU Emerald ready for move to Ag College

Training Minister Hon. Tom Barton has announced that CQU Emerald will move out of the TAFE facility to the local agricultural college in time for Winter Term classes.

According to the CQ News, Minister Barton said the move was a win-win situation for all concerned.

The article says Emerald students are expected to gain improved education and training options from the relocation.

CQU Emerald coordinator Janice Moriarty said the campus would continue to strengthen its relationship with TAFE while building new links with the Ag College.

Mr Barton is quoted as saying the Emerald Agricultural College was an ideal venue for university researchers to develop projects relating to science, the environment and primary production.

He said the University would gain extra capacity to develop new initiatives and courses like the Bachelor of Learning Management, which welcomed its first Emerald cohort this year.

Emerald Agricultural College board of directors chairman Ian Burnett is quoted as saying the college is looking forward to joint opportunities for new program development.

Minister Barton said TAFE would use its newly-available space to expand programs.
