Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU's Dr Karl makes a 'sound' contribution to awarded book 

CQU Bundaberg-based Dr Karl Neuenfeldt contributed a chapter to a new book called 'Wired for Sound', which has just won a prestigius award in the area of ethnomusicology.

Dr Neuenfeldt's chapter was based on recording studio research.

At the Society for Ethnomusicology's 2006 annual conference, 'Wired for Sound' was named the Best Publication in Organology and its editors were awarded the Klaus P. Wachsmann Prize for Advanced and Critical Essays in Organology.

The Wachsmann Prize is intended to recognize 'advances [in] the field of organology through the presentation of new data and by using innovative methods in the study of musical instruments'.
