Emerald pleased with O-Week attendance

Central Queensland University's first-year Emerald students attended Orientation on Wednesday, February 28, to get to know the campus and its staff before classes started on the March 5.
Students studying the STEPS program, and those starting a Bachelor of Business/Accounting and a Bachelor of Learning Management attended the orientation day.
Campus Coordinator Gai Sypher was pleased with the number of students who attended.

‘‘Orientation can be very daunting with an overload of information, so we try to make it fun and informative at the same time," she said.
"Student Mentors are assigned to first-year students. Mentors are second and third-year students who volunteer to assist first-years settle into university life, reducing the levels of stress".
There are about 40 first-year students at CQU Emerald this year as well as continuing 2second and third-year students and a number of external students who utilise the campus facilities.
