Mackay trucks in new student accommodation units
Published on 25 October, 2010
CQUniversity Mackay has trucked in the first of its new student units, under a $9.2 million project designed to extend on-campus accommodation options from the existing 22 places to 104 by next year.
The pre-fabricated units are already fitted out internally and Head of Campus Dr Pierre Viljoen has praised them as being a comfortable option.
Dr Viljoen expects the campus will be able to offer accommodation to between 300-400 students within two or three years, as the new units are added beside the existing accommodation near the campus entrance.
Trucks will continue to deliver the project components and the units are expected to become available by January next year.
Mackay Campus is keen to extend its accommodation options, enabling students to enrol for internal study, as fresh courses become available.

Medical imaging and sonography programs are coming on stream in Mackay and the Graduate Certificate of Management will be available in an intensive workshop mode on campus.
