Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Dancing (and acting) with the Stars in RockVegas 

Rockhampton's performing arts students have been dancing and acting alongside established professional actors and dancers during May.

This week's visitors have included music theatre performer Katie Kermond and actor Catherine Moore. Last week's visitor was dancer and actor Dale Pengelly and next week's visitors will be Transient Theatre co-founder Tony Kishawi and the Queensland Conservatorium's Irene Bartlett.PhotoID:4176, Katie Kermond with students

BPA coordinator Dr Emma Killion said the industry mentor involvement was a crucial way to ensure students get the latest insights and also networks within the entertainment industry.

"Our visiting experts are always active in professional shows and thus have a wealth of current knowledge to convey," she said.
