Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Emerald marks Adult Learners' Week 

Adult Learners’ Week in Emerald was celebrated with education awareness displays in the community from September 4-10.

To conclude the celebrations a presentation evening was held on Friday, September 10, to showcase the nominees and announce the winners in the Adult Learners’ Week competition.

PhotoID:1551 Sections in the competition included; outstanding learner, outstanding tutor/teacher, outstanding workplace, outstanding provider and outstanding program.

In the outstanding learner category several Bachelor of Learning Management (BLM) students from CQU Emerald Campus were nominated. Pat Moran (Sub Dean, BLM/Campus Coordinator), Stephanie Garoni (STEPS Coordinator/BLM Lecturer) and Errol Rosenblatt (STEPS/BLM Lecturer) were nominated for outstanding tutor/teacher. STEPS Emerald was nominated for outstanding program and CQU Emerald Campus was nominated for outstanding provider.

The STEPS program at CQU Emerald won the outstanding program section while CQU Emerald Campus received a Highly Commended for outstanding provider.
