Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Graduates to kick-start careers 

The Department of Innovation and Information Economy, Sport and Recreation Queensland (DIIESRQ) is offering Central Queensland University graduates an excellent opportunity to kick-start a dynamic career.

DIIESRQ is launching their 2004 Graduate Recruitment program and is encouraging CQU graduates to apply.

The program is one year in duration and is designed to provide first hand experience in linking university studies to real world experiences.

Graduates will have the opportunity to work in an organisation with identified key strengths in innovation, science and technology, research and development along with active promotion and support of the sport and recreation industry. The program will commence on Monday February 2 2004.

The program has a strong focus on developing a graduate's leadership capabilities while providing a fast paced learning environment. Graduates will be permanently appointed to the Department upon successful completion of the 12-month program.

DIIESRQ is looking for graduates with the following key attributes: studied in the disciplines of science, economics, public policy and public administration disciplines; possess strong and effective communication skills; have performed well in their studies; possess a proven record of academic achievement; demonstrate exceptional strategic and analytical skills; and are highly motivated individuals.

Applicants must be due to graduate at the end of 2003 or have recently graduated. The Department strongly encourages people from diverse cultures and backgrounds to apply and is committed to principles of workplace diversity.
