Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Uni a cog in success of cycling season 

Our University is once again a major cog in the success of the cycling season in Rockhampton, confirming sponsorship of The CQUniversity Rockhampton Cup on Wheels at The Kenrick Tucker Velodrome on December 12-13...

According to the Rockhampton Cycling Club website, the beef city is the focus of cycling over the next few weeks as the local velodrome is set to host the Queensland Elite State Track Championships (from December 8-11), immediately followed by The Rockhampton Cup on Wheels.

The CQUniversity Rockhampton Cup on Wheels, featuring $18,000 in prize money, starts on the Friday afternoon (Dec 12) and concludes with the running of the prestigous Rockhampton Cup on Saturday night (Dec 13).

Special guests for the event have been confirmed as Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder Anna Meares and Beijing Olympian Glenn Chadwick.

CQUniversity's Office of Development and Graduate Relations will be making tickets to the Cup on Wheels available to staff members at no cost. Requests for tickets can be made via t.clifford-banks@cqu.edu.au .

The website notes that Rockhampton has cemented its spot as the cycling capital with the announcement by Cycling Queensland that Rockhampton Cycling Club will also host the Junior State Track Titles from January 16-18.
