CQUniversity is planning to construct a new clinic at Rockhampton Campus as part of a $12 million investment in new Allied Health programs in 2012...
Up to 160 clients will use the new facility each day, as students learn by working alongside qualified health professionals in the areas of oral health, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry and speech pathology.

There will also be opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with other discipline areas, including nursing, nutrition, medical imaging, clinical investigation, paramedic science and psychology.
Faculty technical services manager Graeme Boyle says the clinic will feature client-friendly spaces and a well planned layout to enable multidisciplinary delivery of services.
"As well as consultation and treatment rooms, the clinic will include rehabilitation gyms as well as an Activities of Daily Living kitchen and bathroom facilities as part of an integrated approach to treatment of chronic disease," he says.
"Our academic discipline leaders will be providing input to ensure we develop a first-class facility appropriately equipped with over $2 million worth of specialist equipment, some of which will be sourced overseas."
Mr Boyle says the University is consulting with professional bodies and specialists.
"We are consulting as part of the program development and accreditation processes, as well as planning to have Queensland health clinical staff operate within the clinical facilities in conjunction with local specialists," he says.
"A key part of the planning process is to ensure the location and design allow capacity for further growth that we are confident will be required in the near future."
