CQUniversity's Dr Alison Owens and Dr Clive Graham provided a voice on international education and creative enterprise at the Australian Education International seminars in Jakarta, Indonesia, recently.
The presentations at the Australian Embassy were attended by interested university and college teachers and students from Jakartan and Indonesian institutions.
Dr Owens presented on the topics: ‘What is Essential to an International Education?' and ‘Researching and Practising International Education'.
As interactive sessions the audience was asked to devise their own definition of the purpose of an internationalised education as well as identify essentials to the educational process of developing global citizens within domestic programs.
A key point to Dr Owens presentation was that an ‘international education' is not a one-size-fits-all import.
She reviewed a range of CQUniversity strategies for achieving an international education and also summarised the range of research activities and topics currently underway by CQUniversity staff involved in the Intercultural Education Research Institute and the Professional Doctorate program.
Dr Graham took the opportunity to encourage the Indonesian audience to look at creative enterprise in a new light with the prospect of new employment opportunities.
His topic ‘The Rise of Creative Enterprise' generated much discussion and followed with radio and television interviews.
