Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Mackay AHE faculty highlights bright future 

This Wednesday saw the Faculty of Arts, Health and Education (AHE) at CQU Mackay campus host a breakfast meeting for its primary and secondary educational stakeholders.

The purpose of the breakfast was to thank industry and community partners for their continued support as the faculty prepare to produce the next generation of teacher’s animators, designers, performers, historians, geographers, journalists, librarians, multimedia specialists, business executives, nurses, scientists and more.

PhotoID:3332 Executive Dean Richard Smith addressed a gathering of over 50 people. “We are encouraging participants to spread the word that CQU offers great opportunities for a wide range of career and employment pathways for our local people,” he said.

Professor Smith was joined by Sub Dean of AHE Mackay Campus, Dr Cecily Knight, and Head of Campus Professor Phillip Clift, in welcoming and speaking to stakeholders about the future and way forward for the faculty The Regional Executive Director of Education Queensland, Mr Wayne Butler, Executive Director of Schools Education Queensland, Mr Ken Collier; and the Assistant to the Director of Catholic Education, Terry Beaton, joined various Primary and Secondary School Principals and Guidance Officers from the Mackay area at the breakfast.
