Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Japanese get taste of early childhood education in Rocky 

Four students from Kwassui Women's College in Nagasaki, Japan have spent three weeks in Rockhampton, gaining experience of early childhood education in various settings and honing their language skills.

The students from Kwassui's Child Development and Education department attended intensive English classes, visited tourist and heritage attractions, and were hosted by local Homestay families.

The students reported that they really enjoyed their Aussie study, culture, and family experiences. They said "everything is different, from the way the rooms are decorated to the way the teachers interact with the children, which is what makes the visits so stimulating".
