Central Queensland University visually impaired student David Rohlf is achieving big things on and off campus.
David is achieving well in his Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Information Systems) program in Rockhampton, but has become more well known as a disabled track star, making his mark in the world of athletics this month.
The 17-year-old’s latest achievements were two gold medals in the 100m and 400m at the 12th National Junior Games in Adelaide this month.
With the taste of success still on his lips, David could land selection in Australia’s Paralympic team in Athens, Greece, next year.
David was born with the congenital visual disability rod monocromitism and is cramming in as many goals as possible before his eyesight further deteriorates with age.
David participated in compulsory athletics at primary school before walking away from sport. However in year 11 at Glenmore State High School, David was enticed back into sport by his teacher. David is also a ju-jitsu black belt.
