Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Bursary awarded to concrete thesis author 

The Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA) has awarded former CQU student Daryn Spilsbury with their biannual Engineering Bursary for the best undergraduate thesis.

Mr Spilsbury completed his winning thesis in 2003 titled "Determining the air void content in concrete using an automated method of image analysis" under his supervisor Remadevi Dhanasekar.

As part of the bursary award Mr Spilsbury will receive the cash prize of $500, a CIA publication valued for $500, registration to attend the concrete conference in Melbourne and his thesis will be included in the CIA library.

He will be presented with his prize at a special CIA function to be held in Brisbane soon.
