Fiji graduate resumes event management career

Recent graduate Kim Beddoes has resumed her career in Fiji after a 2-year working holiday in Europe.

Kim, daughter of Fiji's Leader of the Opposition Mick Beddoes, was among 43 graduates at CQU's ceremony in Suva on November 20.

PhotoID:3784 She actually completed her Bachelor of Business (Marketing) degree in 2004 but the travel bug delayed her formal graduation.

The 28-year-old is the new Managing Director for Sports and Events Management (SEM), the company her father started in 1991. Earlier on, she also worked in the family company Sun Tours Fiji.

It was back in 1997 that Kim started as a full-time student at CQU Rockhampton. But then she took up the opportunity to return to Fiji as marketing officer for the South Pacific Games, combining her professional and sporting background (she twice represented Fiji at swimming).

As the result of her promotional role with the Games, Kim was recruited as a radio host with Legend FM and also worked as Manager of Retail Marketing for Tappoos.

Meanwhile, she continued with her degree with CQU and her parents encouraged her to complete it.

Kim's latest challange comes as SEM prepares (as official ground operator) to host 1800 international supporters for the 2007 World Netball Championships in Fiji.
