Gladstone hosts crisis management workshop

Crisis management expert Ross Campell will be bringing his expertise to the Central Queensland region on October 2, in conjunction with CQUniversity Gladstone.

He says businesses should pay attention to "issues", which are often precursors to larger events. Ideally a business should remain proactive, working to prevent emerging problems from getting out of control. And managers should be trained; not just to manage a crisis but to be able to lead others calmly and effectively whilst in a crisis situation.

CQUniversity Gladstone Head of Campus, Dr Pierre Viljoen is excited about the prospect of working with Ross Campbell and other equally prominent experts in critical areas to bring high-level training opportunities to Central Queensland businesses.

"We aim to be a prominent future force in providing targeted Professional Education in a variety of areas to the local community, businesses and industry.  We will support this effort by utilising the existing CQUniversity skills base as well as external experts like Ross where appropriate," he said.

Places are limited and registrations are being accepted now; early bird discounts apply for confirmed registrations prior to September 19. Details via s.gherardi@cqu.edu.au .

For more than 20 years, Ross Campbell has installed crisis management plans in countries around the world, and across many disciplines, including finance, resources, education, manufacturing, emergency services, utilities, professional partnerships, medical and pharmaceutical.

Working with management, he implements strategic, integrated crisis management, recovery and business continuity frameworks, supported by tested continual-improvement programs. This workshop is designed for those people who may have already completed some training in crisis management to take them to the next level of preparedness. It will also be useful for those who have never had any training in the area to quickly develop the skills and expertise needed.

During the past 20 years, Ross has conducted crisis management workshops and exercises at principal and regional offices, plants and operations for companies, governments and institutions around the world.
