CQU Mackay farewells Korean friends

A very tearful farewell saw 24 Korean students from Ulsan college farewell their teachers and homestay families at CQU Mackay campus following an emotional and entertaining completion ceremony last Friday.

PhotoID:3155 For the last 4 weeks, the students have grown close to local families and their 4 teachers from the Bachelor of Learning Management program at CQU Mackay.

The Bachelor of Learning Management students, Christy Schaefer, Dean Hardy, Casey Davidson and Matthew Knight have worked tirelessly to develop and deliver 4 weeks of English language instruction while incorporating the sites and culture of the Mackay area into the Korean students total experience.

Professor Phillip Clift, Head of CQU Mackay campus is pleased with the way the program ran and is looking forward to welcoming more groups like it in the future to the campus.

"The program was arranged through the Mackay International Education and Training Consortium (EdMac) and was the first of it's kind," said Professor Clift.

"It was an emotional time as we farewelled them on their last day. Besides receiving excellent English instruction and having a great experience of our local area, a great many friendships have been made here that will last a life time and that's fantastic".
