CQU Noosa Hub BLM student Dianne Thornton has won second prize in the Education Queensland Online Learning Course Developers' award.
Ms Thornton had entered the 'Healthy Food' course she developed for her class at Tewantin.
Her 'Food Fun’ classroom was designed for a year-5 class studying a unit on healthy food and restaurants.
"I wanted to create a ‘kid friendly’ environment and gained input and feedback from my own two daughters," she said.
"The colours used in the banner, buttons and text were intended to be eye-catching and sit in partnership with the colours found in fruit and vegetables.
"The virtual classroom includes two quizes, both related to linked readings, games or classroom learning.
"The nutrition games included are very interactive, involving music and sound effects.
"The course also includes a forum on the theme of tuckshop foods. There is a homepage activity which allows the students to indulge in their favourite food. A survey is also included for students to complete.".
Ms Thornton said the features of the classroom were neatly compiled in folders with explicit instructions to provide understanding and clarity.
