Human Movements degree runs ahead of pack

Central Queensland University's Bachelor of Human Movement Science degree is ahead of the pack, according to the Course Experience Questionnaire administered by the Graduate Careers Council of Australia.

PhotoID:1431 Head of the School of Health and Human Performance, Dr Peter Reaburn said graduates of the degree had rated it the best in Australia on three vital indicators.

"Of 22 universities that offer human movements, we are rated at the top of the scale for Generic Skills, Good Teaching and Overall Satisfaction," he said.

Dr Reaburn said the degree would get even better in 2006 when the School planned to introduce two six-month industry work placements as part of the program.

"We will be the first Human Movements program in Australia to adopt the industry co-op model operating so successfuly with CQU Engineering," he said.

Students are already in touch with the sports industry, as the School hosts the cycling talent identification program for the Queensland Academy of Sport and helps run a professional triathlon each year.

CQU's Bachelor of Human Movement Science degree is offered on campus at CQU Rockhampton and CQU Bundaberg (first-year only). It is the only Human Movements Science program in Australia to be offered externally and mostly online.
