Video clips help to motivate IT students

IT lecturer Michael O'Malley has been recognised with a Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, presented during the recent graduation ceremony on Rockhampton Campus.
This award acknowledges Michael for developing an innovative, engaging, and personalised method of teaching complex programming concepts for first-year students that motivate and inspire learning.

Michael has demonstrated a passion for teaching and a deep commitment to improving the learning outcomes of his students by developing alternative resources aimed at personalising interactions.
As a committed educator, he is determined to explore new methods, such as creating videos, aimed at motivating and inspiring students to understand this complex subject area.
These personalised videos directly support the University's learning and teaching philosophy and practice, while also being a powerful 'learning by demonstration' resource for students.
