Second International Film Festival set to hit CQU Mackay screen

Local belly dancers will entertain movie buffs attending this year’s Central Queensland University Library Society International Film Festival.

Tansca’s belly dancers form part of the introduction for the North African film 'Satin Rouge', winner of the Best African Film 2002 at the Montreal World Film Festival. The film takes viewers on a journey through Tunisia, as the young widow Lilia is drawn to an exotic night club of Rubenesque belly-dancers.

PhotoID:1108 Library manager and Library Society member Pauline McNee said the selection of film covered diverse genres from Bulgaria, France, Tibet, and Tunisia.

“The films are extremely unique and apart from Frida, none of them have been shown in Mackay before,” she said.

“This is our second film festival so we decided to make it a little different by including guitarists, belly dancers and finger food on Saturday night." A complimentary light wine and cheese supper will also be available after the opening film, 1492 on Friday evening.

The festival runs from November 7-9 at CQU Mackay Cook Theatre. Tickets are available at the door of the theatre before each film. Season tickets and further information can be obtained by phoning 4940 7578 or 1300 369 038 during business hours.

PhotoID:1109 Tickets cost $3 for members and $6 for non-members. Season tickets are available for $20 for members and $45 for non-members.
